I'm not very techy, but I was just curious how i would connect my 360, HDTV, and Receiver all together all using HDMI. (I have ports for all 3). Couldn't I just connect a HDMI cable from my hdtv to my xbox. Then another HDMI cable from my tv to my receiver. (Since HDMI carries audio as well wouldnt' that work) Or is necessary to also use my optical out port on my hdtv to the receiver as well. NE help on this subject would greatly be appreciated!! lol. BTW for the receiver it will be for 5.1 (if that even makes a difference). THX!~ :)

  1. 1. Connect HDMI from the 360 to the Receiver

    2. Connect HDMI from the receiver to the TV

    3. In the receiver's menu, turn on the "input" you plugged into

    4. Set your TV to it's HDMI input

    Done

Note: Yes, HDMI video will pass through your receiver and off to your TV. On some receivers, like Yamaha, the sound will pass to the TV also, while still working with the 5.1 system.

  2. The best is to run every thing into your receiver and use the video out to your HDTV. It depends on the receiver you have. You might not be able to use one video out to the tv. The optical port isnt in use with HDMI from you 360. Check your manuals also.

  3. just use the xbox hdmi cable to your reciever and change the setting inside the reciever to use the hdmi port.  then go one time out of your reciever to your hdtv with the hdmi cable.  Same goes for a blu-ray player just go into the reciever with the hdmi cable and have them both switched to this setting.
