just send the audio outputs of the TV to the receiver(turn off your TV speakers), it's quite simple, no need to toy with the video if this is all you want.

Use the Audio/Video out from your TV. If you can't see the words 'AV Out', then look for the marking with an 'arrow' coming out of the 2 circles at the AV sockets. An 'arrow' in mean an input into the TV. Next connect the AV cable to an amplifier. If your receiver has a 'AUX' or audio in, then connect the av cable to it.
