  1. You cant.

    a) DVD players have no inputs.

    b) You can't connect a DVD player to a VCR - because the output is copy-protected.

    You can connect though your converter box to the VCR input and then to the TV. So

    DVD player -> to TV

    Converter Box ->VCR-> TV

  2. You can't connect a converter box to a DVD player because they don't have inputs. (If it has inputs then it's a DVD recorder).

    The best way to hook up your converter depends on whether your VCR has a tuner,  what inputs your TV has, and if you want to watch analog TV channels as well as digital.

    If your TV only has an antenna input, you might be best off to buy a RF modulator with a switch ($20 max at a place like Walmart).   By connecting it between your VCR and TV  you could record one station while watching a DVD.

    The first answer you got said that you couldn't use your VCR the way you are using it. I used to have a VCR that worked fine as long as you don't try to record the DVD output from a commercial disk.
