Question:

How to connect a wireless laptop...missing network key

I have a dell laptop, but I cannot connect it to its primary network. For my house I have a RCA wireless cable modem through Road Runner. When I go to the wireless connections on my laptop, I have a linksys signal that is only strong enough that I can use the laptop in the same room as the modem and nowhere else in the house. I also have the network e668, which always has a very strong signal, but unfortunately, it says I need the network key to connect it, which I have no idea what it is. Could you please help me?

  1. I'm gonna guess those are your neighbors connections. Do you know the addy for the router(192.168.1.1)? look on the router for anything that says user name: password:

set up the router while plugged in, then go wireless, if your using windows and have a dell use this http://www.intel.com/network/connectivit...

  2. If you don't have the network key and it is your router that is a linksys you can go to linksys dot com and retrieve the WEP. but by the sounds f it the password protected signal is coming from a neighboor or someone who lives close by with wireless internet.

  3. Sounds like you are picking up a neighbors wireless signal.

You need to know the password to use the network.

If you are friendly with the owner of e668, ask him/her if you can login to his/her network and get the password from him/her.

  4. go to its website and chat with those people
