How to connect big HIFI speakers to PC

Hello i have two 200 watt BGM speakers i would like to connect them to my pc my computer specs are DELL XPS 420 ,Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.30 GHz ,RAM=3326 MB ,32 bit Operating System ,Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT ,Sound Card High Definition Audio Device SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. Do i need a AMP or can i just connect straight onto my computer and how do i connect it? the speaker at the back has a red wire and black wire slot i got audio cable for it just want to no how to connect it

  1. Yes, you need a receiver to power the speakers.  Then get a standard 3.5mm to RCA cable to go from the headphone out on the laptop to an input on the receiver.  Wire the big speakers to the speaker outputs on the receiver.


  2. you need a stereo reciever or amp for them big speakers thats how my computer is hooked up i went to radoi shack and bought a extension cord that can plug into my speaker plug on bacl of computer then it runs to back of my stereo i have to put it on tape cause thats were i hooked it into you probably can use other port  my stereo is also a 5-1 sourround sound  i also have regular pc speakers so if i dont want to listen loud i just plug them in hope this helps ya out
