How to connect cables to watch my kitchen tv.?

Using a splitter, I used to have my kitchen tv set up so that my kids could watch a video in the living room and I could watch news in the kitchen. We have satellite and I think the receiver goes into the video before connecting to the main tv. Since upgrading our satellite to DVR the set-up is different. Now I can only watch what is on the main tv. Any ideas how I can hook up the system so I can once more enjoy news in the kitchen, and have the kids watching their video in the living room? Thanks.

The only way you can do this is if you get a second DVR or a dual-tuner DVR.  

The dual-tuner DVRs are available from DISH but I'm not sure about other satellite providers.

I have DISH and have the same problem.
