usually it's a scart connection to the TV

there is also (usually) a loop-through facility for the aerial connection, to allow the aerial to go into the freeview box, and then out of the box and into the TV.... this (aerial) connection does not transfer the *freeview* channels to your TV

Other freeview boxes may have more (and more complicated) connection options
