  1. I had this problem.

When you plug your iPod in, if you get a screen saying 'Welcome to your new iPod', ignore it. Do not press continue. If you now go to music, you should be able to drag and drop songs to your iPod. However, if you go back to the 'Welcome' screen and press continue, your iPod will disconnect. Obviously, this is only a temporary solution.

If this routine becomes a bit tiring, I can only recommend 2 things -

    1) Update your iPod, (on the 'Settings' tab of your iPod when you connect it to your PC).

    2) Restore your iPod, (this puts the settings back as they were when you first got it, and installs all the iPod software again).

And lastly, if you can't get to the 'Settings' tab because your iPod is still refusing to connect, you'll have to back up all your music to another file on your PC, (Your music can be found in My Music > iTunes) and reinstall iTunes. If this fails, you need to look into ringing customer support, or referring to the instruction manual or the Apple website.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom.

  2. reset the ipod according to the apple website

menu and centre button till it goes black the reconnect to computer with itunes running then

RESTORE it or upgrade if that works
