How to connect my surround sound syestem i need help!?

ok i recently purchased an RTD215 walmart 5.1 rca home theater system it came with a dvd player i have it all connected it works great with dvd's now i am wondering is there a way to make it when im watching regualr tv for the sound of it to come out on my speakers?

  1. Many TVs have only inputs.  If this is the case for your TV, you need to get the audio from an external tuner.  If you have a cable box, it should have some outputs you can use.  If you are not using a cable box, you can use a VCR as a tuner which will give you some outputs.  Good luck.


  2. Does your 5.1 system have a set of stereo RCA inputs?  If so, you will need to connect an RCA cable from your TV RCA out to the 5.1 system input.  Then you should be able to have 2.1 stereo sound from your TV.
