I brought my wii to my friends house, but his tv doesn't have composite ports and he doesn't have a spare vcr laying around. There is a cable box though with composite inputs. How would I get it to work after plugging it in? I tried using an input button on the remote, but it doesn't work.

  1. Are the inputs actually enabled on your friend's cable box?  Mine aren't because the cable company opted not to have that hardware put in, although they look perfectly usable from the outside.  Play around with the box for a while, but you could just have to give up if his cable company thinks like my cable company does.

You say you don't have a VCR lying around. . . how about an RF modulator?  They're basically the same thing, just minus the part where you can play tapes and therefore a lot smaller.  Until I got my new TV, I had my Wii plugged into one of those and then a coaxial cable ran from there to the TV.  IT was sort of nifty, actually, because the Wii audio/video output would just take over the TV screen as soon as I turned it on rather than my having to fumble around to find the right setting.

  2. The cable box should work.  Plug your wii into the cable box using the composite cables.

    1. Set the input of the cable box to the composite input. The same one you plugged your wii cables into.

    2. Set TV  to the channel that is the  output of the converter box. Probably channel 3 sometimes 4.

    It should work.
