Okay, I'm gonna give you a brief history on my situation. I got a laptop last year (Gateway MT3418 to be exact) which had Vista Premium pre-installed. I've hated Vista ever since (Vista Laptop = anger issues = genocide) Then a very geeky friend of mine told me about Ubuntu. I installed it one my laptop ( I dual boot because, unfortunately, I still have to use vista). Was very pleased on how well it worked. Everything was working great except for the wlan. So, I had to download and install the drivers. 500 tutorials later I got it installed. This is where my mind goes blank. The readme is meant for people who can halfway understand code.... which I don't. The url for the file (with the readme) is

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#352

Thanks in advance.

  1. Hello --

I am very new to linux myself and on this machine I am using  the KDE version (kubunto).  I seem to recall a wireless package in my frequent sorties into the the online Add Programs place.

If I were having a problem of this kind (and I have them more times than I like) I would use your IRC program to contact the Ubunto users help rooms.

    Best of luck,

    Bill
