How to contact police?

I was babysitting some kids in town and we were on a walk. The 2 boys were ahead of me and I was pushing the stroller with the baby girl. I told the boys to stop at the street so I could catch up and cross with them. Right before we crossed, this car ran the stop sign going way faster then 25 mph, which is the limit in town. If I hadn't told the boys to stop, they could have gotten hit. I memorized the license plate number. How do I tell the police what happened? 911 seems silly in this situation

  1. You open up the phone book and look up the number to the police department for your town.  Most phone books have a government section, usually in the beginning that has numbers to the police, fire depts, etc.

  2. Put your grivances on a piece of paper and than approach the local police station with the complaint

  3. If you happen to see a policeman on patrol you can launch the complaint with him. Or you can look up the number for the local police station and tell them. Alternatively, you can go in to the police station and file an official complaint there as well!

  4. 911 or the local police station number which can be found in the telephone book

  5. Look in the phonebook and look for the non emeargency police.

  6. Find the town's main number, you could use a phone book or 411 or operator. Then tell them what happened.

  7. Your city should have a regular police number for non-emergency calls.  Try looking in the phone book or dialing 0 or 411, then ask for the number for your local police department.  You could also just google the name of your town and "police station".

  8. You can file a complaint by calling the non-emergency number. If a ticket is issued, it will go to the driver, not the vehicle owner, so hopefully you got a look at them too.

Policies on citizen complaints vary with the department. Some will issue a ticket on your information, but you will be required to go to court if the person contests the charge. Other departments may not issue a citation unless they witness the violation themselves.

  9. all police deparments have a phone number look it up and call

  10. Oh wow.. u were very lucky! good thing the boys listened to you!

you can definitely report to the police... i believe there's a line for the locals which is not 911 (the emergency line). look it up in the phone book or the web. or go inside the police station and tell that to the officers at the receptionist desk.

what that driver did may seem silly, but it is very important for him/her to follow the road signs bc he/she could've done sth sooooooo horribly wrong next time if there wasn't a baby sitter to stop the kids from crossing the street!

the police will do whatever they can after u have filed a report.
