  1. This is ADHD, but I thought it might help.

  2. Avoid food colourings, preservatives, junk foods etc, as they can make the ADD behaviours worse.

Red colouring, chocolate etc, would send my daughter off, and she would not stop running, jumping, talking etc for hours, and when she finally did she was irritable and tired. So she was a diet similar to Sue Dengate's Fed up ADHD diet, I have included a link below.

We found that a diet high in Omega-3 and omega-6, helped my daughters memory and concentration skills improved.

With learning disabilities you need to learn what your learning style is, some people are visual, others auditory or Kinesthetic (hands on type stuff). Once you know this you can then plan the best way to maximize your learning outcomes, if your kinesthetic then hands on learning is ideal, because you learn while actually physically doing it.

My daughter has ADHD, ODD and we both have dyslexia, dyscalculia (maths), dysgraphia (writing). If you have dyslexia and would like tips on how to manage and learn with dyslexia, I can send you some information, just send me a email.

You can achieve much if your given the support and encouragement.

  3. It is never too late to intervene concerning your learning disability.  There is therapy to help retrain your brain on how to process the information correctly, based on medical science.  Whether you have a visual or auditory processing problem, there is help through an education specialist trained by NILD.  Contact www.nild.org (This is the National Institute for Learning Disabilities)  They can put you in contact with a trained NILD therapist who can help you.  You would need someone local.    As for A.D.D., if it interferes with your daily life and focus, it may take lots of tries to get on a medication that helps with few side affects.  Make sure you have a very good doctor that is informative about A.D.D., and never hesitate to get advice from the pharmacist, as they are more knowledgeable about what meds work and what meds don't work, the side affects, success rates, etc....--moreso than doctors. HOWEVER, be careful not to "assume" you have A.D.D.....make sure it is not your diet, or lack there of, or any other health issue that could mask as ADD, such as low blood sugar, thyroid issues,  or any other outside circumstances, before you go on meds.  Meds should always be  a last resort.  --Hope all this info helps!

  4. i have/had add and my doctor put me on ritalin and then adderal, they helped but they made me lose like 15 pounds so my doctor took me off it, my add's not that bad anyway so it didnt really matter, but i suggest trying one of those. But idk about the learning disability part sorry.

  5. TRY to meditate on what you are hearing and, look for revelations in what you are hearing. Attempt to archive and organize data in your mind like you would a file cabinet.Think when you are reading or listening about what things you might learn and what hidden knowledge can be gleaned by being observant and attentive to outside stimulus of all kinds. This will incite learning by interest (its got to be interesting to you in order for you to pay attention to it.)Right???Do you have trouble paying attention to an extremely exciting video game? Or... Do you have trouble keeping up with the action in a sporting event that you enjoy watching? Think about that and see if it makes sense.

  6. Check out these various sites. I was on Ritilin for several years to control my ADD, now I'm on straterra. When I used to read I'd have to use a ruler or paper and put it under every sentence when I read to make sure I stayed on the right line. I still have issues with ADD at work, I give myself small breaks throughout the day, often working on one thing for a time and then switching to something else and whatnot.
