  1. how the h**l am i suppost to know?!

some of the sh*t u go on about cars or landys or w.e

it goes str8 over my head :L

  2. I have never tried it but there are lots of articles on the web such as http://www.webcyclery.com/pages.php?page... that outline the procedure to follow.  Good luck!

  3. The very best source of information on how to do a single speed conversion is at Sheldon Brown's treasure-trove of a website:  http://sheldonbrown.com/fixed-conversion...

First check what type of rear dropout your bike has--this will determine how exactly you'll move forward with the project.  If you're not sure, look at Sheldon Brown's website.  If you're still not sure, take your bike into your local bike shop (LBS) and ask.

A basic list of things you'll need, assuming your rear dropouts are semi-horizontal:

    Single speed front chainring

Rear wheel with a single speed hub (either buy an entire finished wheel, or restring a ss hub onto your existing rim)

Rear cog (you'll want to decide if you're going fixed or free)

Lock ring (only if you're going fixed)

    BMX chain

A set of bike tools to overhaul your bike

If your rear dropout is vertical there are a number of options, ranging from an eccentric rear hub (the best are ENO, made by White Industries) to various SS chain tensioners, to a custom frame alteration to a horizontal track dropout (custom frame builders often offer this as a service).  Ask at your LBS for your best option.

I just finished a ss conversion of an old road bike.  It's not hard, but you'll definitely want to understand bicycle workings, maintenance, and bike repair tools.  A good LBS can be very helpful to provide you with the parts, assistance, and knowledge.
