  1. I think the train that Prince Charles uses runs on vegetable oil.

  2. it needs to be a diesel engine

  3. With older diesel engines, you have to replace all rubber components in the fuel system.  Generally these are fuel lines and gaskets in the fuel pump.  Biodiesel is a solvent that eats rubber.  It's a fairly inexpensive conversion.

Keep in mind B100, 100% biodiesel, is more expensive than No. 2 petroleum diesel, so you won't save money.  You have to have other reasons for going to biodiesel.  Also if you make you're own biodiesel you have to pay taxes for the road use, these taxes are included in the price you pay at the gas station.  If you use the roads you have to help pay for them.

  4. I was entering the Cumberland Farm's store when I notice a bumper sticker that said.  WWW.greasycar.com I asked the gentlemen what was that all about, he said that the vehicle he was driving, as he pointed to several large containers of vegetable oil, was running on that.  If this address doesn't help, try www.oilycars.com  also do a google search for them.  GL and GB

  5. in most desel cars you dont need to, biodiesel is enough like oil too be used with out any ill effects.

  6. First off, just to get it out of the way, biodiesel can only be used in cars with diesel engines. Petrol (gasoline) engines would not work, and you would probably jam the injectors.

There is a difference between vegetable oil and biodiesel.

Vegetable oil is the initial product, what you end up with (and put in your car is biodiesel). There are kits that you can buy on the internet so that you can convert vegetable oil to biodiesel. Depending on how much you get the oil for, you could save lots of money. If you buy it from a gas station, it's like 12 cents cheaper (where it's available). Check out the link below for more info.

  7. Any modern regular diesel car can use bio diesel. The renewable fuel for a gasoline car is ethanol. There is no way to convert a gasoline car to use diesel, other than taking the gasoline engine out and putting a diesel engine in.

Mercedes and VW sell some diesel cars in the U.S., and all the big rig trucks are diesel. And there are some pickup trucks that are diesel. But in general diesel cars are not very common in the U.S.
