I purchased a 110V AC applicance for US. I want to know how to correctly change the 3 pin indian plug (live,Neutral,Ground) into US 3 pin Plug ?

Do Indian 3 pin plug follow standard : Like Live pin is left side and Neutral pin is right side of the plug ?

  1. Indian plug is old style British BS 546.  5 amp (type D) or 15 amp (type M).  The three prongs describe an Isosceles  triangle with the earth or ground prong at the apex.  (It's also slightly larger in diameter.)  For Type M plug the hot and neutral are exactly one inch (25.4mm) apart.  For Type D hot and neutral are 19mm apart.  With the plug pins facing you the ground is at the top, hot at left and neutral to the right.  Hope I made sense.
