How to convert watts into kWh?

I have a sustainability project and I am trying to install a water heater that would use less energy than the one I currently have. The current one uses 4990kW/year. When I was researching I found heaters that are labeled 2000 watts. How can I convert this so that I can easily compare the current water heater's energy usage to a potential water heater's energy usage?
