Question:

How to convince manager to allow us to have tip jars?

I've gotten a couple people in the last few days who asked if I had a tip jar (I'm that amazing lol) I told them no, so they handed me the tip anyway. But I think if we had a tip jar, more costumers would drop in their change which would add up pretty quick.

  1. What if you just put out a mug/jar and didn't write "tips" on it.  If people asked you could put it there but your not soliciting.

  2. if you need extra cash or your salary is not enough.but it is also not fair on the part of the hardworkers(most of the customers,i think, decides how much they will give as a tip based on the performance) but i agree that it will be a great motivator.

tell them that they will not lose costumers because placing tips on a tip jar is optional but make sure that the workers are well trained so that the tip jar would not be useless.

  3. nope, it makes the store look greedy.  I don't like going to a place when I feel pressured to tip.  your store would lose business.

  4. Just put one there, and if your manager complains just say

"Oh! I was drinking water and accidentally left my cup there. I didn't realize customers were putting coins in it...."

  5. Tell him/her that it motivates you to work harder. People are happier.

  6. Some businesses dont allow for tips. Just ask your manager if your allowed and if you are.. suggest letting you put one up.

he might still say no because a tip jar makes it look like you expect one.
