How to convince my brother to not get a dog?

My stubborn brother wants a dog. But here's the thing my mom and I don't. We aren't dog people, and getting a dog will stink up the house, ruin the furniture, and leave the house a mess. Everytime I try to bring this up to my brother, he ignores me and says that it doesn't matter. My mom has already told him that she will not get a dog like 50 times, and he still thinks that he will eventually get one, and he cries and wails and shouts every time she says no. How do I make him forget about getting a dog, or at least convince him otherwise?

First, I have to say that dogs don't stink up the house, or make messes anywhere near as big as kids do. Second, it is your mother's house and her rules. Tell him he can have as many dogs as he wants when he gets older.

tell him that if he gets a dog, he will have to walk him every day, pick up the p**p, potty train him, train the dog obedience, and he will have to pay for the food, medical expenses. That is a lot of money. If he has a dream to do or have something, say he wouldn't be able to have it because dog's are expensive. It might be mean. But it could work....

If it's your mum's house then your brother should respect the fact that! However not all breeds smell, and if they are trained correctly (possibly with a puppy cage) they shoudln't cause any mess within your house. But your mother should have a word with him, her house her rules.

Tell your little brother that if he does not care about stinky house furniture and making a mess its not his stuff for the dog to destroy tell him that he would have to buy everything him self food cleaning supply's  the dog it self and toys make up a number that will make him not want to spend money and then tell him thats how much money your mother would have to spend inc new furniture if he wants a pet so bad get him a frog or something
