  1. Just show that you are responsible and write a report about ferrets.:)

It would add up, cage, food, toys, and all, at least *$150+

*note: depends on quality and quantity

  2. Why dont you start out with something easier like a hamster or some rats. Oh and if you do get a ferret....DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!! You obviously havnt done any yet because you said you said i want to get a ferret. It should be ferretS. They need to live in pairs. And altogether for cost is gonna be atleast $500+

  3. Pets aren't usually good presents.  It'd be better to get them on a quieter day.

For a good ferret settup, it's usually in the 200+ range, but that doesn't include the actual ferrets.  Ferrets are expensive pets, really.

The best thing would be to do some research and then explain to your mom what you know about their care, and then maybe contact a ferret rescue and visit some ferrets.  If she sees your interest in them and how much you're willing to do to take care of them, she may agree. :)

    Good luck, and Happy birthday!

  4. Didn't you just want a guinea pig? Ferrets are high maintenance pets. The cage, itself, can easily cost you $100+. The ferret alone is probably around $50-$100, depending on where you get it from. High quality food and supplies will be fairly costly. I'd imagine that they're about as expensive as a cat. They need to go to the vet and get their shots, too.

Just because you want one doesn't mean you should get one. Have you done any research on ferrets? Have you met any in person? How do you know they're the pet for you? Once the newness of the ferret wears off, are you going to lose interest and give it up? Ferrets are a huge commitment. Think about this.

If you want a ferret, start by doing tons of research. Talk to ferret owners. Learn as much as you can BEFORE getting one. Once you decide a ferret is the pet for you, make a list of all the supplies you'll be needing. Give an estimated price, and show your mom all that you've learned. Prove that you can handle a ferret by being responsible. Keep your room clean, help out around the house, keep your grades up in school, etc.

Ferrets are not the pet for everyone. They're rambunctious. They have their own smell. They're extremely curious and nosy. They'll get into all sorts of tight spaces. For the right people, though, they can be great pets. I really recommend you do AT LEAST a month of research before even asking your mom to get you one.

  5. Ferrets are expensive your is not going to spend like 300 dollars on you for your birthday unless you are really spoiled. -_-

  6. You need to do a lot of research.  For one, Ferrets are not rodents.  You should find out what type of pet they are, what do they eat, what types of diseases do they get, what type of behaviors do they exhibit.  How do you keep a ferret healthy and happy?  Is your family ready to bring a weasel into their home? Are they even legal where you live?

Ferrets themselves are fairly expensive, around $100.00 from a pet store, and they require proper food, cages, accessories and medical care. Cages designed for ferrets can run anywhere from $60.00 to $500.00 or more per cage.  If your ferret is going to spend a lot of time in the cage, a larger cage with ramps and tunnels should be purchased. Accessories such as litter pans, paper litter, shampoo, water bottles, feeding dishes, hammocks and toys can run you an additional $50.00 or more.  Litter boxes must be cleaned at least once

a day if you don't want to stink up your house.  And, you must spend at least an hour a day playing with them outside the cage.  They do not make good cage pets and are very photosensitive to light.
