How to convince my mom???

Question

To re- do my room.

She spent 10,000 on it ( when i was like 10 )

And we made it all tropical and i have like all bamboo furniture ( aka bamboo bed, dresser, computer desk, and shelves )

I like hate my room bc im not really into the tropical stuff now.

Should i leave my room or keep pressuring my mom to let me re-do my room again?

Compromise -- Redo it as an Asian-themed or an Island spa but keep the furniture.

Asian: Paint the bamboo furniture black. Colors for the room -- Reds and golds, or sandy or sage walls with Asian calligraphy.

Island Spa: Sand colored or soft green walls, white bedding and sky blue ceiling. Gauzy white curtains. Wood accessories.

Or if you can convince her to redo it, get classic non-trendy furniture. Then it's much much easier to change things without costing thousands of dollars.

10k is a fare bit of money.

But i know myself that your surroundings can get a bit boring

instead of totally R E-Doing your room how about you just

start off with a change of colour in your room, painting your room is always fun in itself.

You could make a feature wall *if there is room* or something creative. Try collecting little bits and pieces to make you room a bit more modern and "groovy"

limit your self a budget, you could ask you mum to give you a set amount of money to do this with and just Say that you are experimenting with how you can budget.

My tips for redecorating a personal space is.

* try a new dash of co lour and mix up the colour

*be artistic, like do some art work on the walls or hang some posters on the ceiling or even dangle some vintange beads.

* make it yourself, you will adore you room even more is you can make some things yourself

* use what you already have and have fun with it..you might find a piece of material over your table will fix your bamboo problem

that's alot to spend on one room. even if you arent into it now, dont make her spend all that money again. maybe you could just redo some of it so you won't have to spend so much. (think, you might not be into what you change it to now in a couple more years).

dont get rid of everything  try to incorporate some of the components of your current decor into a new style   that way its a new view but not the garbage for the old stuff  be creative in your thinking...your tropical could become back yard chic  paint the furniture for a new look and go for an outdoor living theme...or who knows???

Just chill out and keep the tropical look. It costs a lot of money to do what you are proposing and many people would love to have ANY decent furnishings in their bedroom. If that avatar pic is actually you then you are much too hot looking to be worrying about furniture anyways.

Tell her up front that its not your thing anymore and you want a room make over. Say you want to donate the furniture to like a home for abused kids that could really use it. Tell your Mom you want her to shop with you for new stuff so you can spend time together and PRESTO, new bedroom! ps offer to go in on some of the cost.
