I want to bring my dog, I think it would be cool going on a trip with him. Also I don't want him to be lonely at home for 1 day.

  1. Taking a pet along on a vacation can cause a lot of stress on both you and the dog.  Chances are, you would end up leaving your pet in an empty motel room anyway.  If you are worried about leaving your pet at home alone for a day, call a local petsitter.  They are fairly inexpensive and can give you peace of mind while you vacation.  Just maker sure the pet sitter is licensed, insured and bonded.

  2. Taking a trip with a dog can be a bit stressful, and most of this extra stress and work will inevitably fall on the parents. If your mom wants a dog free day at the resort, I think it might be best if you just let her have it. I'm sure she's paying for it, so it's really her choice.

  3. hold a knife up to her favorite purse and say "ill do it ma"

  4. Does this resort even allow dogs?  That's an important first question.  The other important question you need to ask yourself is if all of the activities you intend to do allow for dogs?  Shopping, rides, restaurants, beaches, and most other forms of entertainment centered around resorts typically do not allow dogs.  In which case what will you do with the dog?  Leave him in the car where he could overheat or be stolen?  Skip things your family really wants to do because you can't bring the dog on that activity?  Leave him at the resort kennel (alone) so that your family can do the activities they want that don't allow dogs?

Traveling with dogs can be a lot of fun.  But there ARE a lot of places where dogs just aren't allowed and there are a lot of things that you just can't do when you are traveling with dogs.  If it's only for one day, your whole family, including your dog, will probably be much less stressed (and therefor much happier) if you just leave your dog at home.  Have a neighbor or someone the dog trusts come and let him out a few times during the day and maybe take him for a walk or two.  Dogs don't need to spend every waking moment with their people, one day by himself isn't going to send him into a spiral of depression and loneliness.  If you really feel bad about it, then spend extra time with him the day before and the day after your trip and do something that he really enjoys.
