Question:

How to convince my parents that SAT is hard?

I think I have a good chance of getting 2000+, but my parents expect me to get atleast a 2300. They're in the mindset that only perfect scores on the SAT have a chance to go to Ivy league schools. We've already decided that I'm going to go to UGA (honors), but I'm still having a hard time explaining to my parents that 2000+ is a respectable score. Help?

  1. holy cow, your parents are weird, lol.

Why don't you give a practice test to your parents and see them get a 2300?lol.

  2. A perfect score is 2400.

Realize, of course, that SAT scores are just one part of the application. It's possible to have perfect 800s for each SAT subject and still get rejected if other parts of your application are weak.

This page lists the qualifying scores from various universities (Ivy League, liberal arts and public).

Maybe you could encourage them to take this sample sentence completion test to see what you're facing in the verbal section:

  3. you cannot.. just take the test study.. there's  free books for reviewer i found on other site, i included it at the source list. good luck

  4. don't explain anything. take the test, get the score, and hopefully get accepted and then you can prove them wrong. it really doesn't matter.

  5. haha at least a 2300? thats ridiculous. yeah id say anything above a 2000 is good. you can show them that, once you get your scores, that the percentiles needed to get that high are ridiculous. i got a 730 on the critical reading section, for example, and i was in the 97th percentile for that section. its just an insane expectation, unless youre a super genius or something. good luck though. i think if you can just show them a score in the 2000+ range, youll be in the 90th percentile or better for each section (if youre well rounded anyway)
