How to convince my parents to let me skate board ?

I play softball but i really want to learn how to skate but my parents wont let me because they are scared ill get hurt. Got any advice?

tell them that you will wear a helmet and pads

Just like famous Rodney mullen who's dad was a dentist and afraid of his kid getting his teeth screwed tell them you'll where pads and show them a skate video where nobody falls and nearly dies.* Skateboarding is really fun, good luck!

* this may be impossible due to all the videos I have seen DO NOT show them 411 911 all of it is crashes.

tell them it teaches you balance-so that you learn to fall without hurting yourself..thats what the pads are for. Tell them you'll be getting exercise and it's alot better than vegging out in front of the TV.
