Question:

How to convince parents to allow me to pierce my lip?

My dad said that if I participate in three interscholastic sports this school year, he would consider allowing me to get a lip piercing. His answer right now is no, because he thinks that unconventional piercings "send the wrong message." How can I convince him otherwise? I'm having a hard time understand his point of view, so I don't even really know what kind of message he thinks would be projected.

Thanks so much!!!

  1. Much better to wait until you are 18. Things you do as a teen seem pretty stupid when you are an adult. Listen to the folks.

  2. well my mom and step dad HATE piercings. but over the summer while i was at my dad's house i got mine pierced anyways. they were pretty mad, but when i put my foot down and told them that this is me and its my personal style they accepted it. just explain to them that piercings are a way of expressing yourself and that if you are at least 16 they cant really tell you otherwise. hope i helped!!

  3. Tell them you'll get it done anyways, but wouldn't they rather have a professional do it? Or, you can just get it done without telling them.

  4. ask them if they rather you have a piercing now as a teenager, when people pretty much expect it, or as an adult when it really sends the wrong message...

cause trust me i'd rather see a teenager with a lip piercing then an adult
