How to cook a 1kg beef blade bolar roast?

I am only used to cooking roast lamb... is roast beef the same? how long should i cook roast beef blade bolar if its 1kg...? any tips on what is good to season with?

  1. Bolar Roasts are great for slow cooked, braised style preparations.  At 1 kilo, it might be a touch small for a real long, slow cook, but should still be doable.

    Rub a little salt and pepper on the outside of the roast, and brown in a frying pan on all sides in some melted butter or oil.  

    In a deep casserole/dutch oven style dish, place chopped carrots, potatoes onion and some thyme and a bay leaf.  Place browned roast on top of veggies.  

    Deglaze the frying pan with a half cup or so of dry red wine.  Add wine to casserole and place on high heat until boiling.  Turn heat down to low and simmer for 1-1.5 hours, or until a fork can be inserted in the roast easily.  

    Keep an eye on the casserole, turning the roast 2-3 times during the cooking process, and adding a bit of water if the liquid level gets below a half cup or so.
