  1. here is a recipe i found on the internet.  

    Mug Daal with ButterMilk

    Mug Daal 1/2 Cup

    ButterMilk (home made or diluted from yogurt) - 5 cups

    Garlic - 2

    Oil - 2 tsp

    Jeera - 1/4 tsp

    Hing - couple pinches

    kadipatta - 5-6 leaves

    Salt - 1.5 tsp

    Red Chilli Powder ( as needed)

    Cilantro for garnish

    Procedure:

    Cook Mung Daal with a couple pinches of turmeric until properly cooked (3-4 whistles in cooker). MAsh Daal.

    Put Daal in a vessel, add buttermilk, crushed garlic (I leave big crushed pieces so the flavor in in Daal butI can remove the pieces), salt and let it come to a boil.

    Season this with oil, jeera, hing, kadipatta.

    You can add red chilli powder in the seasoning depending on spice tolerance.

    Garnish wih Cilantro for a little color variation.

    As I don't which mung you are talking about but I am giving you the recipe of yellow mung dal and not the green one...

    Its very easy to prepare mung Dal,  First take 1 cup of mung Dal and soak it in hot water for about 3 to 4 hours... Then take a pot and put some 2 tbs of clarified butter ( Ghee) and add 1tsp of mustard seeds and let it crack then add 1 tsp of Jeera, 1 dried red chili, and then as soon as jeera starts turning pink add curry leaves and 1/3 tsp of assophotedia (Hing), 1/2 tsp turmeric,  1 tbs of minced garlic. and 1 1/2 tbs finely chopped green chilies and ginger. and saute for about 2 -3  min on medium heat. Then wash mung daal thoroughly and add it to the pot, saute it for a 2-3 min until mung dal is coated with all ingredients...Add salt to taste, then add 4-5 cups of water and let it cook till its all soft and cooked,Then add 1 tsp of sugar but don't forget to stir every 5 to 10 mins if you are cooking in a metal pot, in nonstick stir every 15 to 30 mins... And when its done don't forget to add coriander and lemon on top...It will be so delicious..make it spicy if you want...

    MOONG DAAL RECIPE

    Ingredients:

    1/2 cup Moong Dal ( Green Gram)

    1 small Onion chopped

    1/4 tsp Mustard seeds

    1/4 tsp Cumin seeds

    1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

    Pinch of Asafoetida

    1 long chopped Green Chillies

    1 tbsp Oil

    2 Curry Leaves

    Few Coriander leaves

    Preparation:

    Pressure cook moong ki dal for 2 whistles.

    Mash it and add turmeric powder, hing and salt to it.

    Add 1 cup water.

    Heat oil in a pan and season it with mustard seed, cumin seeds, green chillies and curry leaves.

    Add the chopped onions and fry for a minute.

    Add the mashed moong dal to it and let it boil. Keep till 2-3 boils.

    Garnish moong daal with coriander leaves and serve hot.
