  1. you've got the right idea in trying curtains, your going to want to go to your local thrift store and find some long and heavy curtains, after putting them up; you'll notice a drastic change in tempature in the room.  i had this problem in my old house, and it was the only way to truly fix it, without going to the extended expense that i couldnt afford. so far it sounds to me though that your on the right track.

  2. Ask her if you can switch rooms....OR ... If you have 2 windows, raise both windows,  put a fan in one window, to draw out the hot air, that way you'll have cross ventilation...hope this helps.

  3. check the vent to see if that room has been turned off!!!! they may have did it on purpose!!! HINT, HINT, ,,,, lol   Mother inlaw  don't like you.....  lol..... tring to roast you out.......

  4. I am currently in Bahrain. Now that it is summer here, I bought an air cooler (just like a portable airconditioner but not cost as much) and I usually put ice and a bit of cold water at the back. It will gradually start to melt then it will breeze the cold air. This helps a lot as our A/C is not sufficing the heat here.

Of course insulation pads will be a good heat resistant. Check if you have it on your roof. If not, have a qualified carpenter to fix it for you.

  5. I don't think you should use the humidifier.  Think about when it is 85-90 and humid or 85-90 and dry.  How do you feel better?  Also try placing a bowl filled with ice water in front of the fan.  Check the ceiling fan to make sure it is turning in the right direction.  Mine go in one direction in the winter when I want to circulate the warm air and in the summer I turn the switch so the blades blow the air down.  Keep the curtains closed, especially in the sunniest part of the day.

  6. Look in the attic to see if there is adequate insulation over your room.  Insulation is not that pricey if you're only going to do that section.  Next check your trunk lines to see if they are attached at the vents or if the air is just leaking out into the attic.  These are both easy fixes.  If everything is okay then have the a/c unit maintained by a professional.  It might be clogged.

  7. i think you should better check if your room has an insulation on the ceiling.
