I have a intel q6600 cpu, asus p5q-e mobo, 2 gb ram, ati saphire 4850 graphics, antec 900 case, asus silent knight 2 cpu cooler. I overclocked and got up to, i think, 3ghz (from 2.4). my cpu runs normally around 40-50 C and my system temp around 40 C, but when i run prime 95 my cpu goes up to about 60-65 C and system around 45 C. that seems a little high to me. is there anyway i can cool my cpu temp down? i have room for an extra 120mm side fan if necessary, but i would prefer not to use it.

  1. Try spitting on it.

  2. bath of liquid nitrogen beats all ur answers

  3. Use water cooling...it's kinda expensive...but it's worth it

  4. all i can say is make sure your using arctic silver cpu coolant. i swear by it. i also use the freezer pro 7 cpu fan/heatsink and it is fantastic. especially with fan speed controls on my pc i don't need it over 65 percent for anything. i'm running the e6750 @ 3.0ghz and it's a beast. also i have a 8800 gts 512 by evga and i have that fan not over 70 percent ever it stays very cool also.

again, maybe it's just your cpu fan/coolant on the cpu

if you don't have a cpu fan speed configuration program download one.

  5. Build your own tower with perspex and select and suitable 12Volt car radiator fan, a mate of mine did this with pictures to prove it, and there is NO heating problems with his big machine.
