How to cool off a HOT room

in my house there is a huge 1st floor and then a small bonus room for the 2nd floor.anyways this one room 2nd story gets really hot, stuffy and really uncomfortable during the summer. is there any way to cool it off. i way thinking an oscillating fan but the one we hav jus blows the hot air in our face. then we tried tinting the windows but still no good. again its a one room 2nd story that gets so hot u cant stand it. can any one please help?

  1. yeah window unit. they sell fairly cheap ones (air conditioners) at most stores


  2. I assume you either have no air conditioning, or don't want to spend the money on one.

    If you have windows on opposite sides of the room, get two box (window) fans. Place one in the south or west side window so that the fan is blowing into the room. Place the second in the north or east side window so that the fan is blowing air to the outside.

    You will create a constant flow of air through your room, cooling it down to the temperature of the outside air. The placement of the fans allows them to work with the flow of the wind, not against it.

  3. Get a good ceiling fan or a dehumidifier. But the this that will work the best would be a cheap portable air conditioner. They are awesome and it will keep your room as cool as you want it. You can always return it if you are not happy with it.

  4. Close the vents downstairs.
