I have some video tapes made from camcorder. How can I copy it to cd for better storage and quality preserve. Does the market has a device that I can buy to make the conversion by myself? I am not a tech expert. Your advises are very appreciated.

CDs don't have enough room (800 meg) - but DVDs do.

  2. When you say video tapes do you mean VHS tapes? Full size? And when you say CD do you mean CD or DVD?

  3. Your best bet would be to purchase a DVD recorder.  Many of them have camcorder inputs (just plug your camcorder in and hit record), and if your videos are already on VHS, you can purchase a DVD/VHS recorder combo.  You can find one for a few hundred dollars (I believe Panasonic makes a decent one for about $300).  You can turn your old VHS tapes (non copyright protected, that is) into DVDs at a good quality.
