My first year of swimming and I've bought 2 suits. Both are too big. They fit super tight dry. My suit is 8/34 I don't know what that means or how to get the correct size?

  1. Well, i agree with that person above me. Fitting a swim suit is a trial and error thing. The suit should be tight, if you lift the straps, they should not stretch further than your ear. When you try it on when it is dry, it should feel tight, and not sag down. If it sags down, that means its too big.

  2. Really, finding your perfect suit size is a matter of trial and error. I, along with most competitive swimmers on my teams buy their suits so tight that your straps cant even touch your ears when you lift them up.  I do that mainly because if it is a nylon/lyrca suit, it will start to wear out and stretch after a couple of weeks in the water.

Also, if your suit is too big in the water, it must not be that tight when it's dry. A lot of newer swimmers think that their suits are "tight" ecause they are tighter than how they would normally wear a suit, but the later on find out that it really ended up being big.  So if I were you, I would try going down a size [to a 32, or even to a 30].

Good luck, and I hope you find your perfect suit =]
