I play chess occasionally and if i can do fool's mate i can win, but otherwise I aslways lose.

How to I stop a counter of fool's mate early in the game?

(fool's mate is when you play "king front pawn frwd 1, Queen equal to Black king, diagonally, bishop to equal to black king diagionally as well, and use bishop to take king front pawn, (Black)

This is supposed to be countered early by a few moves, such as:

Moving the king front pawn forward, or moving either knight in a pattern that goes, up 3, left 1 (on left hand knight, right 1 on right hand knight.)

  1. I you are really interested in learning more about chess and how to play better there is a tremendous amount of useful information on the web, but rather than overwhelm you with a dozen links to good sites I'll give you one very good one to start with.  When you get to the Chessville site find the tab marked instruction and start with beginner.  Enjoy!

  2. There is no counter-counter.. if black counters your premature attack, white (you) will almost always just have a worse position.  That's why good players don't play that.

  3. Hence the reason it's called a fool's mate, a person will only fall for it once.  You need to expand tyour chess play to get better and not try to win just one way.
