Question:

How to create Uncoded Websites?

I am a Graphic Designer and have been asked to create a website for a client in .psd.

I have no problem with the program, but ive not created an uncoded site before and would like to know if any of you guys can help?

What is the best size page to use?

Do I have to name all of the layers or does the developer just crop each section?

I am very familiar with photoshop and don't see it being a problem, I just need to know "the rules"

Thanks guys

  1. If you have any graphical elements, you can definitely have a separate .psd for them and have one kinda full preview of the layout.

I think naming layers is always best, especially when you're handing it off to someone else.

Design for the layout as if you would normally design it, just cut out the coding portion. Instead, you can do a full preview.

  2. Create your document @ 72 dpi. Right click on some web banner images in a browser and "view image" to get an idea of the pixel size. Size will be different for everybody according to the system they view it on. Do a search on "web design resolution".

The web designer will need to slice up your images, so it will be very helpful to name the layers with meaningful titles.
