How to create lineart in Photoshop Elements 6?

I just got a tablet, have no idea what I'm doing. I can't get the lines to appear smooth, and my pen keeps going off of the canvas area. Can someone give me any tips on how to create lineart using this program? And how do you use the pressure thing -- when the harder you press the thicker your lines get?

Turn anti alias on. Change the brush settings> look at the image link but it may vary from each version of photoshop. if not search in the help for "change brush hardness".
