My friend is 17 and yesterday I saw him feeding all his money in to a roulette machine, in about 10 minutes he lost £150, and than borrowed 30 off of another friend, also it's not the first time, before he lost 120, and he just says "It's nothing"... he sells weed so that's why he's got that much money.

  1. Roulette machines are like the crack of gambling - easy to play with very big rewards and sometimes instant gratification.

As to combat  gambling expert advice can be got here, telephone helpline and online help with discussion boards:

    http://www.gamcare.org.uk/

There is also a very good book written by a psychologist from a reputable publisher:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Overcoming-Compu...

    Hope this helps.

  2. You can not really cure a gambling addict anymore than you can cure an alcoholic or a drug addict.  They have to want to be cured.  Most gambling addicts do not think they have a problem until the have run out of money and can no longer borrow money from friends/family.

After you have voiced your concerns to your friend about his addiction, your only decision is whether or not you want to hang around and possibly see him destroy his life and possibly drag you down with him.

  3. the best way is to retract the souce of money.  I stopped gambling after my credit card and bank card were hidden by my girlfriend. it is easier to not do it by completely cold turkeying the situation.  After being in huge dept, this worked for me.
