How to cure cat from messing with cigarette butts????

Have curious cat, loves to play with butts,we always try to dump the ash tray, what should i do when catching her with a butt in her mouth, rub it in her nose and say no or what. help please, or will she outgrow this?????

No, don't do that.  If it's a kitten it's possible she'll outgrow it.  Kittens are "pure evil in fur suits."  Oh for crying out loud, I have a lot of punctuation because I need a lot of punctuation!  Shut UP Yahoo!

Anyway, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted:  Don't punish her.  She won't understand and might end up hating you.  Remove it from her and say NO loudly.  No hitting.  She may or may not get the idea.

But it's not worth traumatizing her over.

Just do a better job keeping them out of reach.  If you have to put the ashtray somewhere she can't get it until the next time you use it.  And when you're using it keep an eye on her.

She won't outgrow this. You can only smoke in another room, or quit smoking. If she inhales a butt, cigars, pipe tobacco, nicotine patches, nicotine gum and chewing tobacco can be fatal to cats or dogs if ingested. Signs of nicotine poisoning can appear within an hour and include hyperactivity, salivation, panting, vomiting and diarrhea. Advanced signs include muscle weakness, twitching, collapse, coma, increased heart rate and cardiac arrest. If anyone who lives in or visits your home smokes, they will have to keep the products in another rooom, out of reach of pets and to dispose of butts immediately, and quit. If you suspect your cat or doggieee has ingested any of these seek veterinary treatment immediately.
