here is the story: on saturday, i went with my dad on a rail excursion hauled by two locomotives destined for the scrapyard, i was enjoying every minute of it, talking about minutes i thought the announcer said the train would be leaving at 1550 when in reality it was leaving at 1515, i got to the station at 1530 only to find the platform empty and the train gone! i was devastated): and to add to insult we had to pay an extra £40 to get us back home, i am just feeling so miserable upset and lost, just wanting to travel on that train again and just wish i heared the announcement more clearly, then this would not have happened. i just feel like i will never come to terms with this experience especially as it can never be relived):

  1. These things happen.  If it makes you feel any better, remember that each year thousands of people miss aeroplane flights, and have to pay hundreds of pounds for a new ticket.  Just imagine missing a transatlantic flight that you paid 800 pounds for, and having to pay a 500 pound rebooking fee.

  2. Hey, I know where you are coming from, I had similar things happen, to look forward to an experience with your

dad only to have it fall through.

You can't make this happen, it is in the past, go forward, ask your Dad what he would like to do next, and go for it.

In the end, it is not the experience that you will remember, but the day you spent with your Dad that both of you will cherish.

I enjoyed many days with my Dad before he passed away, and some of the most cherished times were the ones where things didnt go well but we persevered.

High 5 and a handshake for wanting to spend a  day with your Dad, that is what is most important.

  3. What you are suffering from is disappointment, not depression - depression is a serious long term illness that can ruin peoples lives.

There were two of you, there was nothing to stop your father from doublechecking the information - considering he is the adult, the onus should have been on him to ensure that the information is correct.

  4. This doesn't sound like depression, it sounds like you're bummed that you missed a train ride. We all face disappointments in our life but we all have to get up and move on. Give it time, it'll pass.
