  1. you need to use the magic wand tool (it looks like a magic wand ;-) ) to select only the cat from the photo. when you click the cat, the magic wand will make a selection around that particular item, usually based on color. when you select the wand tool, you will find photoshop has some sensitivity options you can adjust if it doesnt do a superb job.

once the cat is selected to your satisfaction with the wand tool, perform a "copy" command (edit -> copy) and then paste the cat into the picture you want (empty street), and use the pointer+4 way arrow tool to position the cat.

once you have the cat in the right position, you need to merge the layers to combine both (Layers -> merge visible layers), then save the file!

    good luck ^_^

  2. Use the lasso tool (the magnetic lasso tool would be easier) and carefully cut out your mon in her car. Once you traced a line with the tool all the way around the car and back where you started, let go of the mouse. This area will now become a selection.

Use Ctrl+C to cut the image. Move to the new image and hit Ctrl+V to paste the selection. It will be pasted to a new layer, and you can move it around and stuff.

  3. You would need to select your mom in the car with one of the tools like the lasso tool.  Then click edit>copy, then click on the new background and do edit>paste.  Now your mom in the car should be on top of the background.  You can move this top image around with the move tool to put it exactly in the right place you want it.

Now, you may need to blend the edges into the background.  There are a few ways to do this...

First of all, once you select it with the lasso tool you can go to Select>Modify>Feather.... which will smooth out the pixels along the edges.

Or once it is pasted on the background you can clone along the edges so it matches whatever it is next to. You can either flatten the layers by going to Layer>Flatten Image..... then just start cloning the edges until they blend. You may even need to lower the opacity of the clone on the edges so they blend better.  OR

If you are not flattening the layers, you still use the clone tool as mentioned, but you will have to clone on the bottom layer, then click the top layer to blend.
