  1. When you say pipe cutter, I'm envisioning a fairly larger set of cutters or a stationary pipe cutter.  You can easily buy a small copper 'pipe cutter' for under $25 that is about the size of a hand held can opener.  You can cut the tubing in minutes and have a nice smooth edge and no bent pipe.

  2. You don't want a "pipe cutter" you should use a "tube cutter" on copper because it pinches so easily.  The tube cutter is essentially a round cutter that you circle round and round the copper tube until it cuts apart smooth and sharp.

See the second image on this link.

  3. use a metal saw blade or sawzall

  4. If you do not want to buy a tube cutter you can use a hack saw.  You will need to debur the edge after you cut it both inside and out with a file.  It is hard to get a square edge with a hack saw so be sure to secure it well before your cut.

  5. 1\4" copper tubing!

I'd use a tiny tim mini saw, if I couldn't use a tubing cutter.

The mini saw is a common tool for plumbers.

Or, you could turn a hacksaw blade backwards so it'll saw the tubing with less tear strain.

    Try that.

    You probably have a hacksaw.

  6. if the tubing is straight you can place it on a table and roll it back and forth while applying moderate pressure with a razor knife. walk your way around the whole circumference of the tube it will only take one time around once you get the hang of it.
