I am 15 years old, 158 pounds and i stand 5 feet 8 inches. I believe i have about 11-13 % body fat. im not sure anymore. BUT... I want to cut weight. i want to cut about 15 pounds. I used to have abs and definition, but i had to gain weight to keep my position in football. Now that i know i have my position on lockdown i need to get this fat off and get my abs and definiton back. I am also cutting weight for wrestling after football. Can someone please help me and give me tips. What do i need to eat or do? If it helps i can't eat cheese because it makes me sick, same thing with fish. This is my first time cutting weight. I post this in MMA because i am a huge fan of the sport and i know that MMA fighters know how to cut weight fast and efficient

  1. Workout in a sweat suit, that will help cut weight. I would keep the weight, just work out more to make your muscles more visible. If you keep your weight and get more size, then sweat out some pounds, you should dominate your weight class.

  2. OK. take a knife and make a small incision on the area you want to lose...

Just kidding. Sad thing is there is no secret to losing weight, just work it. Wear heavy sweats while you work (to lose excess water weight) and watch what you eat.

Cutting weight can be very dangerous, so have a trainer walk you though the process and recognize the symptoms of dehydration and malnutrition.

  3. First things first, I believe you want to lose weight rather that cut weight. Cutting weight is a temporary lose of water weight. (usually just one day) While losing weight (LONG TERM) will give you that 6-pack back.

At 15 your going to have an easier time than someone older lets say 34. Your metabolism is still in high gear, That being said don't get sucked into the quick weight lose diets, some can be very dangerous and none are long term.

You need to burn more calories than you take in. It's that simple, Kinda  ;-) So how to do this? Balanced diet and exercise. When we are talking about diet it means no more Macdonald's or Wendy's. But if you do go there make better choices. Big Mac vs Chicken salad. ??? Eat more often... yeap more often, 5 or 6 times a day. But remember you are not eating a "regular" meal 5 or 6 times a day. You need to eat smaller meals. Put your fists together, That is about how much you should eat total in each meal or less. And drink lots of water. It will suppress your appetite and is very good for you.

Now the exercise, cardio will help you lose weight, Running, Jumping rope, Running Stairs, Bicycling, Step aerobics etc...

There is a ton of different types find something you like so that you will stick with it, but don't be afraid to mix it up so you don't plateau.

Last couple of things. If you want to read a book on eating right, one of my favorites is "Body for life" Remenber when you are preparing your food try not to use excessive butter, grease, salad dressing, Ketchup etc... And no soda. Your wrestling coach will pound that one in your head. Also here where I live there is a "hydration test" in high school wrestling, It's aimed at keeping kids from trying to "cut" weight. There were some deaths a couple years back. Be careful. Talk to your wrestling coach, Dad, and whoever else you trust. Not your buddy. When I coached we would never allow a kid to cut more that 5 to 10 lbs. More 5 than 10. It's not healthy.

Well good luck and be safe!!!

  4. Cutting weight is dangerous.  Of course at 15 you don't believe that but I wish I did at 15 when I was cutting weight for wrestling.  Doctors tell me I probably lost 3" off my eventual height.  As a result, I was too short to qualify physically for my dream job (fighter pilot).

Just be healthy and don't be an idiot like I was.

  5. I wouldn't recommend it. Dangerous! Yes you can cut water weight but gain it right back as soon as you drink water again. I would recommend the right diet. Eat non fried foods. 4-6 small portion meals a day will get your metabolism going and the weight will drop. Try not to eat after 5pm either.

  6. At 15 you don't even want to THINK about cutting weight!

Your muscular development hasn't been completed yet!

Wait until you finish the growth process!
