How to cycle a tank for a dwarf puffer fish?

  1. With a small fish like a betta, and then once cycled, move the betta out into his own 1 gallon tank and move the puffer in!


  2. I believe in the fishless cycling method! I dont think cycling with fish is humane. They are being poisoned as the ammonia and nitrite levels are going up!

    1. starting from scratch-

    2. replicating using a filter-

    run a filter into a well established tank, so that the bacteria may colonize into the new filter. Run this filter as long as you can once you believe it is ready. Once this is done, you may run this new filter into the desired tank. Now the bacteria that inhabit the filter shall break down ammonia and nitrite :)
