Question:

How to deal with bathroom odor?

when one uses the bathroom and there is a strong odor my friend opens the window and then closes the bathroom door as she leaves. I contend that this "locks" the odor in the room for the next person. I believe that the window should be opened but also leave the door open so the air can be pulled from the window and there is more air flow. What do you think?

  1. air freshener will definately help...

  2. Leave the door open for that very reason. Get a can of air freshner for her!

  3. It seems the odour might be coming from the drains.

You should use a drain cleaner once a week - leave it overnight then rinse abundantly. After a month the smell should disapate. Otherwise using bleach on a regular basis down the drain is also a good idea.

Sure it will help if you have the window open, but you need to get to the source of the problem!!

  4. I understand what you are asying about ...window..& ..window,   window without door...I think the best way to vent a toilet area efficiently, is to install an extractor fan, one which will give you 3 changes of air per hour. The widow will provide the fresh air, and the extractor will take out the foul air.
