bt has cut my fone off for no reason all my bills are up to date, so i cant see why they would do this. i e-mailed them to asked them about this and said it was due to an error and id have to call up (how can i do that when ive no fone) to get it reconnected which will mean i have to start a new contract which i dont want to do as it would mean being tied down to them for 12 months which i dont want to be as ive only got 5 months left to my contract. i also paid £50.00 as a deposit to them should i get this back now as they have ended my contract?

  1. I would talk to Trading standards - they shouldn't charge for a reconnection. I have never been asked for a deposit to sign up to their service, I'd get that checked out!

  2. You can call BT on any land line phone for free on 0800 800 150. I would definitely call them and if it's an error on their behalf they con not restart your contract. They will need to reconnect you on your original contract and you should try and get some compensation out of them. They owe you that much. Apologies are worthless. After that, if you are in a LLU or cable area you can switch everything over to another company. You can check what services are at your exchange by going to the link below.

  3. God i hate BT...

  4. you wont need to start a new contract as its their error...stop making things up....go to a friends or use a mobile and call them up...they will just continue your service when its reconnected....errors happen....so how are you using the internet then if your disconnected?

Bt is shite but I do think your ranting over a mole hill here.

  5. If they are saying you have to start a new contract since this has somehow invalidated your previous one, then don't reconnect (since you have no contract to finish)!

Go to a different company for your line rental, you can get much better deals now than what you could a few years back. I changed from BT about 18 months ago and have had no problems.

If you do change, make a point of telling BT why you aren't reconnecting and that you are changing to a different service. Maybe they will be more careful in future.
