ok- I broke up with my boyfriend & moved out. Long story short:

He got an inheritance of about 35,000. He quit his job and went on a gambling/cocaine binge & spent all of his money. I moved out, and now he calls about 10 times a day, telling me he will:

a) be homeless because he has no money

b) kill himself

c) Stay in our old apartment & wait till he is evicted just to ruin my credit

I changed my phone # & now he is calling my parents!

What do I do???

  1. You do nothing he will get over it like we have in the past.

  2. Get a restraining order and stay away from him sounds like he is bad news! You don't need to get involved with a drug addict. He will do nothing but ruin your life and bring you down with him. You deserve so much better.

  3. Call the police and charge him for blackmail and harassment.

  4. Call the landlord and tell them about the situation, and file harassment charges against him.

  5. Run.

Run as fast as you can to the police for a restraining order to keep him from calling you and your parents.

Once you have the PFA, go see your old landlord and explain the whole situation, including the gambling, the drugs, the stalking and the PFA. While they could hold you partially responsible for rental obligations - it is unlikely.

If he wants to kill himself, let him -- just make sure he doesn't take you with him. As for his being homeless -- that is NOT your problem. HE needs to understand HE is responsible for HIS actions. No money = no place to stay. Homeless = He really messed up. You bail him out = sucker.

  6. First off have you called your old landlord and explained that you had to leave the apartment due to drug usage from him, and see if you can get out of your lease?

Second,  he can threaten all kinds of things but most likely he won't do one single one.  It is just "his" way of trying to get you to cave in and take you back

The only way to get him to stop calling your parents is by changing their phone number OR get a restraining order on him.

Your parents would have to be involved in the RO for it to include their home as well.

Hope that helps hun and good luck

  7. next time he offers to kill himself  tell him to go ahead

i gurantee you he wont and he made his own bed now he must lie in it

get your parents  a caller id  or call block his number or see if they are willing to change thier number.

  8. Do not respond to this loser.  Tell your parents you cannot have contact with him.  He is trying to reach you through them.  It is a shame is is involving them BUT if he learns he can get a response by calling them, he will not stop.  They should simply hang up if he calls.  When it gets him no where he will stop.  Believe me, I went through this with my ex-wife who had a gambling addiction.  They give up eventually (he will find another victim)  I do not think he will kill himself, he may be homeless, but OH WELL, it is his own fault.  Life is tough and you do not learn by getting bailed out all the time.

I do not think he will ruin your credit, it is easily explained anyway if the rest of your credit is good, ignore this threat.  It is BS.  You did the right thing to change your phone number.  Be sure to warn your aprents about anything he might say (my ex tried to scare my mom with wild stories, all trying to get a response from me, even if just to call her and say to stop scaring my mother) Also tell your other friends and family NOT to give out your information to ANYONE.  He will probably have other people call and ask about you when he gets no response.  My ex kept this up for about 2 years, off and on and now it has been several years since anyone heard from her.  Be sure to protect your credit cards, etc.  He may have the numbers or even your SSN and enough information to open credit cards in your name. Be careful about this.

  9. Well first, stay far far away from this guy.

Second, document everything he has done.

Third file for a restraining order.
