  1. One of my professors (who is also an experienced Yalom-style group therapist) said something radical that really changed the way I look at negative emotions. He said "I WANT to feel sadness, pain, anger.. I want to embrace those painful experiences; I don't want to shut them out, because when I shut them out, I become emotionally numb. And if I'm emotionally numb, how can I experience happiness, joy, love...?"

What the leader meant is that painful, negative emotions are just important and valid as positive emotions. They make us human; they make us ALIVE. I would tell you the same thing I'm telling myself: embrace those emotions for what they're worth--lessons, ways to be in touch with ourselves, ways to empathize with the pain of others. Your frustration, sadness, and worry are parts of you that are human and necessary. When you begin to appreciate and understand them, you begin to allow them to run their course, instead of trying to suppress, repress, or invalidate them.

Of course those negative emotions are... well, frustrating! They are no fun. We all should live in a way that eliminates avoidable pain. One of the ways to eliminate needless suffering is to change your perceptions--CHOOSE your attitude. When you begin to realize how much control you actually have over the way you interpret events, you'll realize how powerful you are. You are so powerful that you can take even the darkest moments in your life and channel them for personal growth. This is no easy feat. It is a lifelong journey of self-discovery, and you are in the process of doing it right now, by asking this very question!

I'm so proud of you :) I want you to know that your negative emotions are important parts of you. I hope you can accept them and harness them for personal growth. Good luck, friend!

  2. Try just getting away to a place and spend some time with yourself.  Some people would choose his/her bedroom, a spot in the park, by a river, anywhere.  Renew yourself, maybe read a good book.

  3. Frustration: Count 1-10 Slowly Every Count, One Breath

Sadness: Write Down What Is Upsetting You...And Write Why It Is Upsetting You...U Will Feel Better As You Would Be Able To Express Your Feeling Without Telling Anyone Else

Worry: Think Of What The Worst That Could Happen...And Then Think Whats The Best That Could Happen. It Will Make You Feel Better...Be Positive

    Well Tats Abt It..:-)

  4. Focus on strengths rather than weaknesses, positives rather than negatives. Google a short piece called Desiderata. It should help you a lot because it has all the answers both for now and forever in it.

I do hope you will be feeling better very soon. I think that these feelings are deep in you just now and I feel for you.

    Very best wishes. UK
