several of my bodies put a softball team together for the summer with another group of guys. It is my team, i sponsered it with my own business money and have been the "manager" all seson. One of the other guy that is in my fraternity called for a practice in the middle of the day yesterday for tonights game. I didnt show up because i didnt want to and 3 others who had work didnt go. I recieved a call this morning saying that i "the team sponser" and the 3 others who didnt show up would be batting last in the lineup and rotating sitting on the bench. I didnt say anything to the guy, just okay. I called the 3 others and discussed not even going to the game and making them forfiet because of lack of players. I think it is a fair action, considerering that i paid for everyone to play and its my team. What would everyone else do, and is it the right desicion

  1. I think your option would be punishing the whole bunch for the ignorance of maybe one person.

Since YOU sponsored the team and YOU managed the team thur far, why would you relinquaish your responsibilities as well as control of your team.?

I would think that performing the duties as you always do would be the way to handle this. Get to the game early, make out the roster, and line up as you usually do and if the trouble maker has something to say, tell him you will discuss after the game and go on with your business.

If he persists to be disruptive to the TEAM atmosphere, bench him for the rest of the game.

You can accomplish this with stern kindness.  There will always be someone in your life's path that want to tip the apple cart.  The question is, will you let them.

The easy way and childish way is to not go and stoop to his level of maturity, and somehow I feel you are a better person than that.

I you start backing down on the minor things, you will not be prepared to hulk up when the tougher things come along.

Take the high road, treat is as a business decision and take control of YOUR team.

    Good Luck, Jackie b
