I'm a year 2 college student, and i used to swim back in high school. i was a very good swimmer, but my parents wanted me to focus on school, so i quited after i entered college. now i want to pick up swimming again, but my parents disagree and worry my gpa will drop. I'm still living with my parents so i can't just do whatever i want. what should i say to convince them to let me swim again?

my gpa was lower when i swim for the school (not that low), but i feel unhappy in college because i can't swim for the school team, plz help me.

  1. Quited? Your in College?

My son is on his High School Swim Team and I know by the time College comes around unless he is lucky and gets a Scholarship for Swimming he will miss it greatly. But his goals are to finish College and get his Pilot's License then go in the Coast Guard as an Officer.

As important as Swimming is to you your GPA is more important and what you get out of the Academics, not swimming. Think of your future, not what you want now. The future will be here before you know it.

  2. me and my friend think that you should say:That if you take swimming away from me.if would not be right because you are taking away my dream and what i love and it is not right.

  3. If your parents are paying for your college, then do what they want. If you are paying for your college with loans, then swim. Honestly, it won't make any difference in getting a career if your GPA is at the top or the bottom of your class. I have a friend that barely made it through college and she makes over 100K as a pharmaceutical sales rep.

  4. well if your obviously over 18, and that means that decisions about YOUR  life are up to you, if u really need to convince your parents to agree with that situation, you can say, a well rounded student is always prefered in college anyway, my gpa still maintained grades that consisted of A's and B's, swimming can give me a lot of oppertunites later in life.   im sure of u make a good, mature argument, they'll come around

  5. Ask them if you can do it at least ONE semester and YOU will not let your grades drop BUT if they DO drop AT ALL,then you will drop out of swimming and not bring it up again ........EVER.

  6. listen

    at the morning study

and at the night go and practice

    you must do it

    if u like swimming

    GO BIG OR GO HOME

and i think that u want to be big

  7. do want you want life is short.

  8. Okay you do live with your parents, but you are in college so you should be able to make that decision. Tell them if your GPA drops then you will drop swimming or you may have to step out of their house and pay for your college or get financial aid if swimming is something you love and they just won't budge.

  9. Do what you love and f*** the rest! Show your parents you can keep up with school and swiming just dont let your gpa drop this time. Im sure if you have a good convincing argument your parents will come around.
