How to deal with overprotective parents?

Hey, firstly this isn't about me it's about my best friend - I'll try and sum it up

She's 13 going on 14 but looks about 17 going on 18

Shes Beautiful going to be stunning|(everyone says so but she honestly doesnt believe it) At school she's in all the highest sets...all in all she a good girl

Her parents are soooooo OVERPROTECTIVE- they never let her out with us or any friends, I feel bad for her coz she is like me she thrives on excitement and independance....I mean she used to catch the bus with me to and from school but now her parents don't even want to let her do that!!! Her area is a bit dodgy, full of gangs of yobs but she thinks that those type of gangs are stupid and have nothing better to do with her life - I just feel bad for her...why do you think her parents are like this? How can she make them calm down?

I have a 2 cousins and they have overprotective parents ; The oldest is going to be 17 and the other 14 ,i feel bad for these girls because her mom doesnt let them go outside,on school days they have to go straight home,their mom calls them 13 times  a day, etc.... NOT ONLY is the mother taking away their freedom but is mental health problems , like these girls dont know how to do anything , they dont know how to cook,clean well,they are scared of the outside world,they are always nervous,they cant express themselves,they cant talk about boys,they cant talk about anything ! the only way that i could talk to these girls is if i go to their house and we have to be lock in their room,and if their going to the store their mom calls them every 5 minutes to see whats up. Is like these girls have so many conflicts in their lives because the mom thinks shes doing an awesome JOB! no shes not, the girls dont do their hair anymore,they dont know what their going to be when they grow up,they dont know where they going to live ,and i told them AS SOON AS YOU HIT 18 SHE CANT DO ANYTHING WHAT SO EVER!.And these girls have told me that they cant wait to walk out that door as soon as they hit 18 years old.i feel horrible but i thank god that my mom isnt like that...im going to be 16 and my mom gives me plenty of freedom , i know how to cook,clean and i know what im going to be when i grow up ! i also see a bright future too.i know whats going on in my life, i know whats good and bad for me..i know alot of things in life =)
