How to deal with rude teammates?

I am joining a research lab soon, and while interacting with the members I saw this real a*****e who has sort of like an attitude which pissed me off - he didnt care to talk with me, and it was obvious that he, probably from professional jealousy, didnt even care to behave properly to welcome a new labmate. I am not scared, but I am just wondering what if this guy gives me sort of a hard time in this new place...my supervisor is very nice, but its just the thought of seeing that guy's face every morning is what disgusting me. I asked for a little help for moving there from him, but that jerk didnt care to reply my email. I dont understand why people behave this way!

Just use humor and ignore as much as you can.  Bring him in coffees and donuts and make a big deal out of thanking him for welcoming you.  Everyone else in the lab will appreciate the joke.  When he stalks by shout out "Oh I'm doing great, thanks so much for asking."  Refer to him as Dr. Friendly.  Everyone else in the lab will appreciate the joke.  Don't be over the top, just rib him a little.

Be cool Honeybunny.  

All you have to do is worry about your behavior.  Be the awesome new person.  It's much sweeter to get someone to be worried about how they look in front of YOU.  Leave them alone and the right moment will come along..just wait for it.  I was new at a design firm, and there was a jerk in my group.  I was the only woman in the group.  One day, he walked by and asked, "You ARE working on the Children's Hospital Project aren't you?  I GUESS I'll have to tell you we're having a meeting in 30."  I thought, "What an "a-rse."  But when I showed up to go to the conference room, the PM opened the door and waved, "Ladies first!"  I looked right up in front of all those men, turned to Jim the Jerk and said, "Jim?"  All the guys died laughing, Jim turned red and never messed with me again.

See, I didn't set that up at all.  It just happened.  Just keep your side of the street tidy, and wait til the other guy litters.  You can hand him the broom.

some people are just the way they are and they never care about what others feel or think about them...

well as its said, " You cant change the world, change yourself"

thats the best thing to do i guess.. try being patient and kind to him no matter how harsh he is to you... try finding out why he is the way he is and maybe he has had a bad phase in his life that made him this way or maybe he is born rude but if u try being being patient and calm maybe things might change...

Smile at him every time your cross him, he will ultimately be ok.Any other action would only provoke him more against you.Best wishes.

try to understand him thoroughly. oftenly enquire about his family members and behave him like a well wisher.find out his intimate friends and through that way make a relation ship with him. always give a pleasant smile to him even if he doe'nt. visit his family surprisingly with a beautiful gift of flowers. try it! this may work.meet him purposefully in his worship place (which ever religion he belongs).coz i am sure his attitude will be different in that place. wish you the best.

i would try not to stress over something that hasnt happen yet. first impressions are the most important and he certainly didnt leave a good one did he? he may of just been having a bad day that day. try to wait until your actually working together before you form your final decision. but if he is rude or annoying, handle it immediately or you'll have nothing but trouble. stand up to him straight up and let him know you wont be pushed around or disrespected. good luck

the simplest way to get mix with them is doing funny things and dont show u'rself superior just make others laugh and do foolish things which couldbring laugh on their faces  

and suddenly one day u will be mixed with them..
